Meet the Rewilders: Sussex Kelp Recovery Project

We have a long history of being involved with projects around the world that help to make real change. One we are super proud to be part of is the Sussex Kelp Recovery Project (SKRP).
This lovely article by Rewilding Britain charts the journey of what happened here in Sussex, our home, and how communities, individuals and NGO’s, spearheaded by the Sussex Wildlife Trust, came together to support the Sussex Ifca (Sussex Inshore Fisheries & Conservation Authority) and their landmark bill to protect the sea bed. Inshore trawling was banned along the entire Sussex coast in 2021.

Our journey started when Big Wave founder, Sarah Cunliffe made the hashtag#HelpOurKelp campaign with Sir David Attenborough.
We would love to see all of the UK’s inshore waters protected from the destructive bottom trawling.
